WW2 German SS Zivilabzeichen Mitgliedsabzeichen – SS CIVIL MEMBERSHIP PIN – .900 STERLING SILVER – GAHR – RARE!

You are bidding on a VERY RARE example of a 100% ORIGINAL WW2 German SS Zivilabzeichen (SS Civilian Membership Pin), issued between the years of 1933 and 1938 to certain members of the SS. Normally made of a nickel plated alloy, this is the RARER .900 Sterling Silver variant, made by the Gahr!

The SS Zivilabzeichen (SS Civil Membership Pin was a small lapel pin worn on civilian clothing to denote membership in the SS. The badge was most commonly awarded to members of the Sicherheitspolizei who were veteran SS members. Adolf Hitler was given honorary SS number “1” and was awarded a Zivilabzeichen by the SS. The badge was stored in Hitler’s Munich apartment until it was taken by 1st LT Philip Ben Lieber in 1945. The badge, along with a group of material owned by Hitler, was sold through Mohawk Arms to collectors Stephen Wolfe and Neil Hardin. In 2013, the entire group was purchased by military antique collector and dealer Craig Gottlieb.

Made of a .900 Sterling Silver by Gahr (not the common nickel variant made by  Hoffstatter), this SS Civilian Membership Pin is in EXCELLENT condition for its age! It features the runic organizational emblem of the “SS” in sterling silver on a black enamel field, surrounded by two circles. Some slight marks and wear, but no chips or damage. The reverse is marked, “900 GAHR, MUNCHEN“, along wtih the issue serial number, “30708“. The pin is straight, and tapers to a point, and has correctly spaced grooves along its length. The pin is affixed by means of a soldered pin plate. The pin has a small period done reinforcement where it attaches to the plate. Originally acquired around 13 years ago from known collector Kai Winkler, it would make a SUPERB addition to any collection or display!
