Description
You are bidding on a SUPERB example of a WW2 German NSDAP (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei) Kampfbine (Armband)! This was brought back by US Army Air Force Serviceman, Eugene Fobel, who flew P-47s throughout the war, however I do not have any further history.
Utilized by pretty much by all the organization of the Third Reich in one form or another, the swastika, (meaning “well being” or “good luck”), is an ancient symbol that was utilized in numerous cultures. It was also a Nordic rune and the pagan Germanic symbol for Thor, God of Adventurers.
In the midsummer of 1920 Hitler adopted the swastika as the premier symbol of the NSDAP. In “Mein Kampf”, Hitler states that although numerous party members had proposed the swastika and red, black and white as the party emblem and colors, it was he himself who came up with the final design.
Made of cotton, this Armband is in AMAZING used condition. Though the colors are bright (attributed to having been stored in a footlocker since 1945), it does feature some slight staining and wear from use. The original inspection stamp also still remains (albeit a bit faded) – see photo #4. Would make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
