Description
You are bidding on an EXTREMELY RARE and 100% original WW2 German Luftwaffe Bf 109 G4 MAIN Data Plate! Recovered from a wrecksite on the Eastern Front, this tag was the main data tag located on the port side of the aircraft, just in front of the cockpit!
Me109 G-4/, W.Nr. XXXXX in a VERY RARE bird, as only 1242 G-4 models came off the assembly line. This specific aircraft was originally assigned to JG3, then after suffering some FlaK damage, was transferred NAGr. 2. On August 15, 1943, she was shot down by FlaK, and suffered 100% loss.
Made of aluminum, this is a VERY RARE piece and was found at the wrecksite. It is an earlier type of plate, featuring the FULL manufacture name, Wr. Neustadter- Flugzeugwerk, as opposed to a 3-digit manufacture code. Also features the Build Date, and Werk Number. Though there is some slight corrosion, bends and marks, all markings are VERY legible. I have indicated it’s location in the last photo, as well as a photo of the pilot (who survived the crash with minor injuries). A VERY RARE item, it would make a SUPERB addition to any collection, display, or restoration project!
