Description
You are bidding on an EXTREMELY RARE and 100% original WW2 German Luftwaffe Bf 109 G1 MAIN Data Plate! Recovered from a wartime wrecksite in Africa, this tag was the main data tag located on the port side of the aircraft, just in front of the cockpit!
Me109 G-1/, W.Nr. XXXXX in a VERY RARE bird, as only 167 G-1 models came off teh assembly line. The G-1 was the first PRESSURIZED version of the Me109, and this specific aircraft was assigned to JG53 , found as derelict in Tunisia (Africa) by the British RAF.
Made of aluminum, this is a VERY RARE piece and was found at the wrecksite. It is the later smaller type, featuring the Manufacture Code “bop” (Messerschmitt AG), Model, Build Date, and Werk Number). Though there is some slight corrosion, all markings are VERY legible. There is one number missing (due to corrosion) from the werk umber block, but as only two G-1’s were found by British troops, it is 100% identifiable. I have indicated it’s location in the last photo. A VERY RARE item, it would make a SUPERB addition to any collection, display, or restoration project!
