Description
You are bidding on a VERY NICE example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe +10/-10 m/s Variometer (Climb/Decent Gauge), Fl.22381, as used in various German aircraft, such as the He46, JuW34, Ju52, Me108, Ar96B, Do24, Do24 T, and Fi156!
This instrument measured the vertical speed climb/decent using the surrounding air pressure. It was located on the main instrument panel of many German aircraft.
Made of bakelite and aluminum, this is instrument ins in EXCELLENT used condition! There is no damage or corrosion, however there is some very wear (does not take away from the overall appearance). Appears to have been overhauled post-war, and it does respond to air pressure (not sure if it is airworthy, however). An unusual dial, not commonly seen. Sadly, the data plate is missing from the reverse. Would make a SUPERB addition to any collection or display!
