Description
You are bidding on VERY RARE and 100% ORIGINAL WW2 German Luftwaffe Querruder und Klappe Umlenkwelle (Aileron and Flap Control Linkage), as ONLY used in the Dornier Do24 Flying Boat!
The Dornier Do 24 is a 1930s German three-engine flying boat designed by the Dornier Flugzeugwerke for maritime patrol and search and rescue. A total of 279 were built among several factories from 1937 to 1945.
The 2 prototypes were used during the invasion of Norway to transport troops to Narvik.
The aircraft captured and produced in the Netherlands were pressed into service with Seenotstaffeln and deployed in the Arctic, Baltic, North Sea, Biscaje, Mediterranean, and Black Sea. They were also used as transports, notably for keeping contact with the troops left behind on the Aegean Islands and Crete, and for supporting the Kuban bridgehead in early 1943
This control assembly was mounted inside the wing, being the main pivot point for control of the ailerons and flaps.
Made of aluminum and steel, this Aileron and Flap Control Assembly in EXCELLENT airworthy condition! There are NO breaks, cracks, or damage, and it is 100% FUNCTIONAL! Also retains 95% original paint! The Do24 part number is clearly shown on one of the mounting plates, indicating 8-24.401-1281. It does feature some marks and scratches, but is VERY solid otherwise! A VERY RARE, and SUPERB addition to any collection, display, or restoration project!
