Description
You are bidding on a VERY RARE relic example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe Rudder Pedal Hydraulic Cylinder, 8-3719 G-1, and Mount, as used on many German fighters and destroyers, such as the Me109, Fw190, Me262, Me110 , Ar234 and others! This came from the SAME wreck as the DB603 Water/Coolant Pump I have listed…and based on the design, can ONLY be from a Do335 Fighter Aircraft! Sadly, I do not have any further loss information.
This hydraulic cylinder was produced around 1945 an acted as the main wheel brake actuator. It mounted directly to the rudder pedal, and the while taxiing, the pilot could press (tilt) the pedals forward, thus engaging the brakes.
Made of aluminum and steel, this hydraulic cylinder is in NICE relic condition. Some slight dirt and corrosion but VERY solid otherwise! Still retains part of the mount, that matches the style of the Do335 Mount (including the same type of hand-written information on the side)! I have shown its location in the last photo. Could need a bit of clean-up, but otherwise a VERY nice and original item for any collection, display, or restoration project!
