Description
You are bidding on a VERY NICE example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe Lanterne (Barrack and Field Lantern)! This was a standard issue item, used by most Luftwaffe personnel.
This lantern was intended to serve a variety of purposes in the field. It is made entirely of aluminum and glass, and though resistant to weather conditions, it is less durable than steel or brass, and still must be handled with care.
Made of lightweight aluminum, this early-war lantern is in EXCELLENT used condition! Retaining much of its original finish, there are some slight marks scratches, and bends due to the age, but VERY solid otherwise! Marked on the bottom “Fl.U.V (Flieger Unterkunft Verwaltung) with the manufacture code, W.K.G, and a date of 1937. These are made in both frosted glass and clear glass. Though this features clear glass, I believe some of the panels are replacements. As this was used during the war, there is a bit of wax and burn marks internally. A FANTASTIC addition to any collection or display!
