Description
The Me109 utilized a removable upper gun-cover panel immediately behind the engine cowling, retained by latch assemblies on each side of the forward fuselage. Each latch consisted of a section attached to the removable cover and a corresponding fixed mounting section secured to the fuselage structure. The original Messerschmitt parts manual identifies the threaded mounting block as Gewindestück. The left and right installations use the same component, making the fitting interchangeable from side to side.
Made of newly machined aircraft-grade aluminum, this matched pair of Me109 Gewindestück fittings is in PERFECT BRAND NEW condition! Some marks and wear from storage, but nothing that detracts. Both pieces are precision-machined reproductions of original part, and are suitable for airworthy restoration use. The central threaded bosses, mounting holes, machined faces, and overall geometry are complete and undamaged, with NO cracks, bends, corrosion, repairs, or wear. Because the same fitting was used on both sides of the aircraft, the two pieces are identical and are being sold together as a complete left/right set. These are NEW-MADE replacement aircraft parts and are NOT original wartime components. I have shown their location in the last images. An EXCELLENT restoration set for any Me109 airframe project requiring correct forward fuselage upper gun-cover latch mounting hardware!
