Description

You are bidding on a SUPERB used LATE-WAR example of a 100% ORIGINAL WW2 German Luftwaffe Führertochterkompass (Electrical Compass), Fl. 23334! Though this was pulled from a Fw190, it was also used Me109, Me262, Me110, Ju87, Hs129, and other fighter aircraft! Made late in the war (circa 1945), this was removed from an aircraft by a US Serviceman, however, I do not  have any further history.
This instrument indicated the current direction of the aircraft.  It was located on the main instrument panel.
Made of brass, aluminum, and steel, this instrument is in AMAZING used condition! This is the LATE-WAR variant, featuring a finish of anodized black, as opposed to being painted (this process started around 1945). 95% of its original finish remains, with only scratches and marks due to the age. A prominent Luftwaffe BAL inspection stamp is also present. The VERY interesting feature is that no data plate was ever attached, as there is not provision for one (no rivets or rivet holes). This would have been done to save on aluminum. The Werk. Number, 75021, also confirms this is circa late 1945. It still retains the original electrical plug (rare), as well as the hand-painted electrical code, “L6”. This code POSITIVELY identifies this as having been removed from a Fw190 (probably a D9), as codes were specific to each aircraft. I have indicated its location in the last photos. Would make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
