WW2 German Luftwaffe – FLIGHT HELMET THROAT MIC – Me109 Fw190 – NOS!

You are bidding on a BEAUTIFUL example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe LKpW101 / LKpS101 / LKpN101 Fliegerkopfhaube Throat Microphone and Plug Set, as used by many German pilots throughout the war!

During WW1, most pilots quickly realized the need for protective headgear due to the cold weather effects while in an open cockpit.  As no headgear was readily available, pilots were forced to utilize commercially produced leather motorcycle and automobile helmets.  During WW2, the German military produced approx. 10 variations of flight helmets for various operational conditions, as well as with or without radio communication equipment.  This specific helmet was designed with radio equipment for fighter and bomber pilots.  It was similar to the earlier model used in the early months of the Battle of Britain (LWpW100), however with updated features.

Made of leather, ersatz leather, bakelite, and steel, this Flight Helmet Throat Mic is in STUNNING un used condition! Some slight marks and wear due to the age, but nothing that detracts. Though the main plug is missing (easy to replace), the rubber insulation is still present! Though this has never been installed on a Flight Helmet (evident by the lack of stitching), the wires have been cut internally. Both mics retain the original part number, indicating, Ln.26779-2. Would need some restoration for full functionality. I have indicated its location in the last photo. A FANTASTIC addition to any collection or display!
