Description
The Fl.22230 Fahrtmesser was a standard Luftwaffe airspeed indicator with a measuring range of 60–550 km/h, manufactured by Original-Bruhn of Berlin. It operated through the aircraft’s pitot-static system, comparing dynamic and static air pressure to provide the pilot with indicated airspeed. The type saw widespread use in numerous Luftwaffe aircraft, including the Junkers Ju52, Heinkel He111 and Dornier Do 17, with documented application also including the Arado Ar79, Messerschmitt Bf108, Bücker Bü181 and Dornier Do24. Its use across multiple aircraft types made the Fl.22230 an ideal instrument for technical instruction and familiarization of aviation personnes gauge is the late war version, produced between 1942 and 1945.
Made of a black bakelite, and mounted to its original purpose-built wooden instructional base, this example is in EXCELLENT used condition! Some slight wear, marks, paint loss, and scuffing but nothing that detracts. The instrument has been professionally cut away to expose its internal operating components while retaining the complete original 60–550 km/h dial and pointer assembly. The wooden display base retains its original glazed identification window, “Fahrtmesser“, as well as the original colored Lehrmittelstelle für Luftfahrttechnik Berlin-Tempelhof plaque with aviation-technical emblem. A VERY RARE surviving Luftwaffe technical-school teaching aid, and far more unusual than the standard Fl.22230 cockpit instrument normally encountered! PERFECT for any Luftwaffe, German aviation, aircraft instrument, technical training, Berlin-Tempelhof, Ju 52, He 111, Do 17 or World War II collection or display!
