Description
Bruno Loerzer was one of Germany’s most successful fighter pilots of the First World War, achieving 44 confirmed aerial victories and receiving the prestigious Pour le Mérite in October 1917. During the interwar and Third Reich period he became a prominent figure in German aviation and served as a leading official of the Deutscher Luftsportverband, helping oversee German air-sport activity during the years preceding the creation of the Luftwaffe. During WW2 he rose to senior Luftwaffe command, serving as commander of II. Fliegerkorps and later reaching the rank of Generaloberst. His long aviation career, spanning WW1 fighter operations, German air-sport leadership, and senior Luftwaffe command, made him one of the more recognizable German aviation personalities of the era.
Made of period printed cardstock, this postcard is in EXCELLENT used condition! There is some very slight age-related yellowing, however there are NO tears, bends, creases, or other notable damage! The front features a color portrait of Bruno Loerzer and retains his original wartime handwritten signature across the lower portion of the image. The reverse is clearly printed “Bruno Loerzer, Führer des Deutschen Luftsports,” and further identifies the image as being after a painting by Erich Cleff the Younger. The portrait, reverse printing, and autograph remain clear and fully legible. Everything is 100% ORIGINAL, wartime manufacture and wartime signed, making this a VERY NICE autographed portrait of one of Germany’s most successful WW1 fighter aces and later senior Luftwaffe commanders! PERFECT for any collection or display!
