Description
You are bidding on a SUPERB example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe Mess Hall Canteen Dining Plate / Soup Plate, as used by various personnel!
Made of white ceramic/porcelain, this is an EXCELLENT example! Features a BEAUTIFUL hand-paint image of an Arado Ar196 float plane, flying over a downed British Aircraft. Features the emblem of a Seahorse on the top, and the wording, “Bord-Flieger Staffel I/196, 1940-43” (Ship-based Aviation Squadron I/196). The reverse depicts the Luftwaffe Eagle, and FL.U.V markings. Dated 194, and mounted into a wood frame. Plate is approx. 9″ in diameter. There are some slight wear and marks due to the age, but it otherwise VERY solid, with no cracks or chips! Though the hand-painted artwork is post-war (not sure when it was completed), the plate itself is 100% original! Would be a PERFECT addition to any collection, or display.
