Description
You are bidding on a GOOD used example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe KG13 A Control Stick Grip! This type of grip was used in the Me109, Fw190, and Me110!
The KG13 A was mounted directly between the pilots legs, and gave him control of the aircraft, weapons (MG, Cannon, Bombs, and Radio). Most aircraft control grips after WW2 were based on this German design.
Made of steel, aluminum, and bakelite, this grip would have been manufactured between 1943 and 1945. Removed from an aircraft, it has some slight marks and wear, but is otherwise VERY solid! It appears to have been lightly restored by the previous collector, as two of the button (though original) are replacements; as well as the terminal box cover (which indicates it was originally for a KG13 B). The button cage for the Bomb Release is a modern replacement. The rubber boot for the button is cracked/damaged as you can see in the photos. The original wiring remains internally. Trigger flips down and locks as it should, but is a bit loose (wants to flip closed). Features a clear data plate at the rear. Buttons are a bit sticky when pressing, but that is normal for the age. Small crack in the bakelite terminal plate (see photos). Would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection or display!
