Description
Me109 E-7, W.Nr. 3457 was an Arado-built aircraft, initially produced as an E-1 variant. It was later upgraded to an E-7 around 1940. Belonging to 7. JG5, and coded 7+-, she participated on the Eastern Front. She was piloted by Uffz. Helmut Schattschneider, and on May 17, 1942 was lost near Petrijaarvi Lake after being accidentally rammed by a shot down Russian aircraft. The pilot bailed out and returned to the front lines, however the aircraft was a 100% loss.
Made of solid steel, this early-war FuG7 Fuselage Counterweight is in EXCELLENT relic condition! used to mimic the size and weight of an installed radio while being ferried to the front lines, there is no major damage, however there is some corrosion as you can see in the photos. Much of the original red paint still remains, along with the aircraft Werk. Number! I have indicated its location in the last photos. A VERY RARE and FANTASTIC addition to any collection, display, or restoration project!
