Description



You are bidding on a SUPERB reproduction example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe Julius Pintsch Radio Room Morse Code Clock! This type was used in various air bases for radio signaling and navigation!
This massive timepiece was used by the Luftwaffe for morse code transmitting. It allows the activation of an MZG2 morse code transmitter that is set at fixed times every hour. The clock is fitted with special contacts which open and close gear cams, thus switching the motor of the MZG2 on and off.  The frame with springs (or rubberized cords) holds the timer case, the front cover has a setting pin for adjustment for opening the case and operating the control elements: “Ablaufen” (running) sets the clock, “Stop” stops the balance, which is then restarted with “Start”.
It has an 8-day power reserve with a modified index spring used for fine adjusting and a remote operates the hands every 15 seconds. This type of clock is shown on page 390 in the book, “Military Timepieces”, by Konrad Knirim.
Only 1000 of these were ever produced.

Made of brass, aluminum, and steel, this Radio More Code Signaling clock is in VERY NICE used condition! Made by Julius Pintsch, Berlin, it is numbered, “402”, dating it to around 1940. The morse code remote actuator has been removed, and the balance staff is missing, so this will need to be repaired for functionality. Not sure if complete internally, so selling this as-is. The bungee cords are original to this clock, as were original used to mount it to an attachment frame. I do have another one listed that has a broken balance staff and other parts, so I suspect the two could be combined to make one fully functional example. Small marks and scratches throughout, due to the age. A VERY RARE clock, it would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection or display!
