Description
You are bidding on a FANTASTIC example of a WW2 German Luftweaffe 1st Model 1930’s German 8-day Kienzle Clock, Fl. 22602, as used in many early German aircraft types, such as the Ju52, Ar66, Ar68, Fw44, Fw56, and others!
Mounted on the main instrument panel, this clock needs no introduction. It was made famous throughout the war as one of the standard German Aircraft Cockpit Clocks. It was usually mounted on the main panel.
Made of brass and aluminum, this first model Kienzle was produced between 1941 and 1945. It is a VERY NICE example and EASILY the best I have had cosmetically. Retains 95% of it’s original finish, with only slight marks and wear, due to the age. It is marked, “8 TAGE” (8-day) on the front and the hands still glow at night (must be charged with UV light). “KIENZLE” is prominently stamped onto the face and the Fl. label is complete, indicating Fl. 22602. The rear mounting ring is also still present (these are usually missing)! Though it is functional, the bushings around the balance staff need to be replaced. As they are worn out, this will only run intermittently (the balance wobbles slightly). As such, I am selling this AS-IS, and for repair only. I have indicated its location in the last photos. This would make a FANTASTIC addition to any Luftwaffe collection, display, or restoration project!
