Description
The Doppelfernrohr Flakglas 25×105 (45°), made by “KQC” code name of “Jos Schneider & Co. Optische Werke K-G” (at the disposal of the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht) in the Göttingen factory, around 1944, in a limited number of examples. It was designed by Dr A.W. Tronnier, chief designer of Schneider.
Weighing approx. 30 lbs., it features impressive visual capacity in terms of sharpness, brightness and magnification. With Germany needing the best optics for anti-aircraft defense (Flak), the LARGE 25×105, featured exceptional optical characteristics, which were designed to eliminate the optical limits found on other sighting binoculars, such as the more common Doppelfernrohr Flak 10×80.
The primary design objective of the 25×105 was to have a MUCH larger field of vision at long distances, obtaining maximum image definition in any light condition and speeding up sighting times with immediate recognition of enemy planes in flight.
Secondary, was the observation of the trajectories and stability behavior in flight, even at night, of the V1 and V2 Rockets.
Today it is considered to be one of the best optics made during the war.
Made of a large tooled alloy and aluminum construction, this 2nd Pattern 25×105 Range Finding FlaK binoculars are in EXCELLENT used condition! Though the data plate is missing, these were undoubtedly made by Jos. Schneider & Co. Optische Werke KG Göttingen around 1944 or 1945. Most of the original paint has worn away, so these have been restored and re-painted post-war in the correct Dunkelgelb paint.
