Description

You are bidding on an EXCELLENT and VERY RARE example of a WW2 German Kriegsmarine Tauchretter Re-breather Emergency U-Boat Life Preserver!  This was specific to UBoot Crews!

This life jacket was used to save life
when the the need arose to escape the U-Boat.
When the crewmember had to leave the sub at 30 or more meters, he would be exposed
to at least 4 bar oxygen pressure (as he is leaving the at the atmospheric hull of the submarine).  When starting his escape (usually though the torpedo tubes), he added nitrogen into the air mixture, instead of using pure oxygen.  This would counteract the effects of the pressure while ascending.  Both Dräger and Siebe Gorman performed numerous tests when developing, and were
able to produce units capable of saving c
rews from depth up to 100 meters

Made of a dark red canvas construction, this pneumatic (or manual) life vest is in VERY GOOD used condition.  Manufactured mid-war by Draeger, it is missing the main hose and mouthpiece, but is still quite interesting nonetheless!  No holes or damage, so it should still be able to inflate, if one can find the missing parts.  Manufacture and inspection markings are present.  No fraying or wear to the cotton straps!  Obviously not to be used in a survival situation, due to the age.  I have shown how it is used in the last photos.  Would make a SUPERB addition to any collection or display!

All sales are final, so please make sure your questions are answered to your satisfaction before you purchase.

——————- ABOUT ME —————–

Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft (Fw190, Me262, etc.), as well as USAF and Japanese items. Occasionally I do offer many non-vintage items such as prints and art relating to the time period. As a private collector myself, I am constantly on the lookout for historical memorabilia, authentic photographs, artwork or anything unique relating to military aircraft.
