Description
The three U-Boat Conning Tower Emblems on the front feature AMAZING detail, and depict:
U-48 – 3x Arched-Back Cat
U-47 – The Snorting Bull
U-95 (possibly U-1192) – Snake wrapped around an Umbrella
Also in 10K Gold on the back side are the Red Devil Emblems used on Erich Topp’s U-57, U-552, and U-2513.
The inside features 10 engraved signatures, alongside the U-Boats these specific individuals served on. They include:
Dr. Kunert
+ U-45
Kruger
U-46
Topp (Erich) Burckhardt
U-47
Endrass (Elgenbert)
Hirsacke (Heinz)
U-48
Unknown
U-51
Schneider (Herbert?)
U-52
Radke (Hans-Jurgen?) Ehrhardt (Walther)
I suspect the signatures denoted crewman the original owner served with, or at least knew quite well, as it seems more like a commemoration piece. More research can certainly be done. Dating pre-1943, the hinge functions PERFECTLY, and the inner elastic to retain the cigarettes is also intact! Measuring approx. 3” x 5″ x 5″, it is one of the NICEST Kriegsmarine Cigarette Cases I have ever seen! Would make a SUPERB addition to any collection or display!
