WW2 German Deutsche Arbeitsfront Werkschar Feldmütze – DAF OVERSEAS SERVICE CAP – VET BRING-BACK – 100% ORIGINAL!

Out of stock

You are bidding on a VERY NICE example of a 100% ORIGINAL WW2 German Deutsche Arbeitsfront Werkschar Feldmütze Overseas Cap!  This was brought back by a US Veteran, however I do not have any further history.

The Deutsche Arbeitsfront, (German Labor Front), became an official NSDAP organization in October 1934, with the purpose to educate the workers in industry & commerce for smooth and efficient operation of all labor in the Third Reich. The structure of the DAF was basically the same as the NSDAP with different political levels of organization.  The Werkscharen were to act as the NSDAP’s watch-dog, in industrial factories.  In April 1937 with a reorganization of the Werkscharen, a second pattern overseas cap was introduced.  Originally a colored piping was intended to indicate rank groups but when the DAF submitted the design to the RZM, the RZM misinterpreted the meaning of the colored piping (thinking it indicated the political regional level of the wearer).  In March 1938,  DAF ranks with the colored political level piping was abolished, and only silver and gold piping was utilized by the appropriate ranks.

Made of dark blue wool, this 2nd pattern DAF Overseas Cap is in VERY NICE used condition!  Featuring side and back panels, all edges are trimmed with a light blue rayon piping.  The front features a machine woven, silver/aluminum National Eagle, with two silver pebbled buttons below.  The interior is lined in black rayon, with a blue oilcloth RZM/DAF tag, featuring manufacture information and a serial number (a bit faded).  Not sure of the size…but probably around a 55 or so.  A VERY NICE item for any collection or display!
