Description
The Mauser Model 1895 is a bolt operated magazine fed rifle used the standard 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge. It was exported to many overseas powers, including the Chilean forces which adopted as the Fusil Mauser Chileno Modelo 1895. It was the first major modification of the Mauser Model 1893 and was produced by Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken, known as DWM, and Ludwig Loewe Company from 1895 to 1900. Made of wood and steel, this Chilean Mauser Bayonet is in EXCELLENT used condition! Made by Paul Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Co. of Solingen, Germany, there are some slight marks and wear due to the age, but nothing that detracts. The three intertwined circles on the ricasso are the trademark of the famous steelworks, Krupp, who supplied the blade steel. The three rings symbolized the Radreifen—the seamless railway wheels patented in 1851 by Alfred Krupp. At the turn of the Century, when these bayonets were made, Krupp was the largest company in Europe. The shield is the acceptance mark of the Chilean Government. Serial number on the cross guard indicates, “F 2549”. The number on the scabbard is mis-matched, and indicates, “L 588”. Condition of the scabbard matches that of the blade. A {ERFECT addition to any collection or display!
