You are bidding on a VERY NICE original WW2 British Royal Air Force Aircraft Turning Indicator Mk IA! (6A/675). A RARE earlier variant, this was installed in various aircraft, including the Spitfire, Hurricane, Beaufighter, Mosquito, Sunderland, Lancaster, Battle, and Anson!
The British RAF turn and slip indicators were standard cockpit instruments used across many wartime aircraft types, including fighters, bombers, trainers, and transport aircraft. It helped the pilot maintain coordinated flight by showing turn direction and slip/skid indication during maneuvering, instrument flying, and poor visibility conditions.
Made of brass, aluminum, and steel with its original black painted finish, this RAF Turning Indicator Mk IA is in EXCELLENT used condition! The case retains approximately 95% of its original black paint, showing only light wear, scratches, and handling marks from age and use. The dial is marked “TURNING INDICATOR MARK IA” and has the Air Ministry crown marking in the center, along with the number “41058/8.” This appears to be an earlier 6A/675 example, with white printed dial lettering, rather than the green lettering normally seen on many mid-war and later examples. The luminous paint is intact, and the glass is present with NO cracks, chips, or major damage (only some light scratching and wear)! Both needles are present and move, though the instrument is untested and functionality is not guaranteed.
