An aircraft oil pressure gauge provided a continuous indication that lubricating oil was circulating through the engine at the correct pressure. Oil was delivered under pressure to bearings and other moving components, reducing friction, carrying away heat, and preventing rapid engine damage. A low reading could warn of insufficient oil supply, leakage, pump failure, or an impending mechanical failure, while an abnormally high reading could indicate cold or excessively viscous oil, a blocked passage, or a malfunctioning pressure-relief system. This was a direct mechanical pressure instrument, with oil pressure transmitted through a connected line to an internal pressure-sensitive mechanism that moved the needle across the calibrated dial.
Made with a black Bakelite-type casing, glass face, and internal metal pressure mechanism, this Oil Pressure Gauge is in EXCELLENT original used condition! Features some slight marks, scratches, and wear to the casing and glass from age and use, but remains VERY solid otherwise! The original glass is fully intact with no cracks or chips, while the dial remains clean, complete, and fully legible with no fading, discoloration, or flaking. The original needle is present and the dial is calibrated from 0-15 pounds per square inch. Features various original inspection stamps and notations on the reverse. The rear pressure connection remains complete and undamaged, with all mounting points present and no notable dents, cracks, corrosion, losses, or repairs! The instrument has not been pressure-tested, calibrated, or certified as airworthy and is being sold strictly as a historical collectible.
