Description
Made of a solid brass, aluminum, and steel by Carl Zeiss, Wien, this set of binoculars is in EXCELLENT used condition and retain MUCH of the original paint and finish! The focus adjustments still function PERFECTLY, and all original eye cups are present! Some paint chips, marks, and scratches as you can see in the photos. The front objectives are slightly recessed, with expendable sun shields. The oculars rotate inward and outward slightly, so the user can adjust for eye spacing. “Carl Zeiss, Wein” is clearly marked on the left side, while the right side is marked:
M.8/12 Z

All the mechanisms work perfectly, the view is clear and collimated. They come complete with the original rain/sunshades, as well as the mounting adapter to fit to a tripod. Based on the construction and angle of the mount, these are most likely for Artillery or Aircraft Spotting. Though marked as having a reticle scale, I do not see one when looking through (probably originally made without). I have shown the EXACT binoculars in use by the Austro-Hungarian Army in the last photos. Would make a SUPERB addition to any collection or display!
