You are bidding on a SUPERB example of a 100% ORIGINAL WW2 German Imperial Army / Wehrmacht Single Decal TRANSITIONAL M16 Stalhelm Combat Helmet!
The first modern steel helmets were introduced by the French army in early 1915. The German army began tests for their own steel helmet at the Kummersdorf Proving Grounds in November, and in the field in December 1915, experimenting with both captured French and British helmets. An acceptable pattern was developed and approved and production began at Eisen-und Hüttenwerke, AG Thale/Harz, in the spring of 1916.
Made of stamped steel, this M16 Single Decal Transitional Combat Helmet is in AMAZING condition! It retains 90% of it’s original paint and finish, with some slight scratches, wear, dents, marks, and corrosion, due to the age. Features a national emblem decal that is approx. 95% complete. Markings indicate ET64 (Eisenhuettenwerke Thale A.G., Thale /Harz). The chin strap is ORIGINAL to this helmet, and has not been added post-war. Liner is also original to this helmet..
