Description
You are bidding on a GOOD used example of a 100% ORIGINAL WW1 Imperial Prussian Army M1915 Pickelhaube Leather Liner!
Development of the pickelhaube can be traced back to the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm IV, who initiated the original design and introduced it for wear by most of the Prussian line Infantry regiments on October 23, 1842. It became a visual symbol of Prussia’s military might and underwent numerous modifications until 1915. Due to the increased number of head wounds suffered by the German troops (grenades and shell fragments), the pickelhaube became obsolete, and was replaced with a steel helmet shell in 1916. After the introduction of the M1916 helmet the pickelhaube was relegated for wear only on ceremonial occasions.
Made of leather, this M1915 Army Pickelhaube Leather Liner is in GOOD used condition! Some obvious scratches, wear, and marks, due to the age. I have shown its location in the last image. Fragile in some places, but would be a PERFECT for a restoration project!
