Description
First introduced in 1847, the Bavarian belt buckle was used by personnel of enlisted ranking. Originally these were produced in a 50mm width until 1895, when the width was reduced to 45mm. They were made of brass with a nickel/silver face plate, until 1914, when production changed to steel.
Made of steel, this M1895 Prussian EM/NCO Belt & Buckle is in DECENT used condition. Sadly, the entire assembly has suffered from improper storage, and has corroded as a result. The buckle features some marks, wear, and pitting, but could be cleaned up. It clearly features the motto of the Kingdom of Prussia, “Gott Mit Uns” surrounding a crown in the center. Similar to the WW2 version, it has a raised catch and dual prong to attach to a leather belt. Approx. 45mm wide. The belt is quite dry and broken in places. It is marked as being 105cm in size, and is maker marked with the production date of 1917. Good for parts or repair.
