Description
You are bidding on a SUPERB used example of a 100% ORIGINAL WW1 Imperial Prussian Army M1915 EM/NCO Infantry Pickelhaube Helmet Spike Base!
Development of the pickelhaube can be traced back to the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm IV, who initiated the original design and introduced it for wear by most of the Prussian line Infantry regiments on October 23, 1842. It became a visual symbol of Prussia’s military might and underwent numerous modifications until 1915. Due to the increased number of head wounds suffered by the German troops (grenades and shell fragments), the pickelhaube became obsolete, and was replaced with a steel helmet shell in 1916. After the introduction of the M1916 helmet the pickelhaube was relegated for wear only on ceremonial occasions.
Made of steel, this M1915/17 Army Infantry Pickelhaube Helmet Spike Base is in EXCELLENT used condition! VERY SOLID, with only some slight scratches, wear, and marks due to the age. A PERFECT item for any collection or display!
