WW1 Imperial Bavarian Armee – M1895 SAXONY INFANTRY EM/NCO BELT BUCKLE – UNIT ID

Made of brass with a nickel/silver face plate, this State of Saxony M1895 Bavarian Belt Buckle and Belt is in FANTASTIC used condition! Some slight marks and wear, but nothing that detracts. It clearly features the Saxony motto, “Providentiae Memor” (Mindful of Providence), surrounding a crown in the center. Similar to the WW2 version, it has a raised catch and dual prong to attach to a leather belt. Approx. 45mm wide. The AMAZING feature is that it is UNIT marked! Stamps on the top edge is, “102. R. 1   I“, indicating that this belonged to the 102nd (3rd Royal Saxon) Infantry Regiment, “King Ludwig III of Bavaria”! It is marked as being manufactured by G.H. OSANG. The leather belt is the original to this buckle and of the time period, but has certainly been adapted and converted in the field. Would make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
