You are bidding on a NICE example of a WW1 German Boot Knife / Combat Trench Knife! It comes complete with the original scabbard!
As bayonets were typically
long and heavy, some soldiers ended up privately purchasing various styles of
hunting knives. Throughout WW1, numerous manufactures produced these types of knives, available for both private purchase and military issue.
Made of wood and steel, this WW1 German Combat Fighting Knife is in GOOD condition considering its age. The blade does show some marks, stains, and wear…and has been sharpened. The top edge wa filed into a slight hook shape (most likely done during the war). The scabbard is original to this knife, but it does feature some marks and wear. Some slight paint loss, but nothing that detracts. Blade features an Imperial Crown one side; and the makers mark Gottlieb Hammesfahr on the other. Would make a SUPERB addition to any collection or display!

——————- ABOUT ME —————–
Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft (Fw190, Me262, etc.), as well as USAF and Japanese items. Occasionally I do offer many non-vintage items such as prints and art relating to the time period. As a private collector myself, I am constantly on the lookout for historical memorabilia, authentic photographs, artwork or anything unique relating to military aircraft.
