Description
During the First World War, the German Army often requisitioned durable Swiss timepieces for military service due to shortages of domestic production, marking them as government property and issuing them to artillerymen, runners, vehicle personnel, and front-line troops. Before purpose-built wristwatches became common, these pocket watches were routinely worn in leather wrist carriers, making them the transitional form between the classic pocket watch and the true trench wristwatch.
Founded in 1853 in Waldenburg, Switzerland, Revue Thommen produced high-quality, reliable civilian pocket watches that were widely admired for their robust jeweled movements and precision.
