Description
Smaller hand-to-hand combat knifes started appearing in 1915, when troops realized that the standard bayonet was too long and heavy. The close combat/trench knife came in the usual straight handle variant, as well as a rarer (and unusual) cranked handle variant. This “cranked” design allowed it to be used as either a bayonet or combat knife.
