WW1 German Bavarian Army Taschenuhr – POCKET WATCH AWARD – WEMPE – PUBLISHED!

You are bidding on a VERY NICE used example of a WW1 German / Bavarian Bundesheer Issue Pocket Watch! This type of watch was usually presented during Christmas of 1914 to various servicemen throughout the war. The casing is published in Konrad Knirim’s book titled, “Military Timepieces”.

Made of a nickel plated brass, this Presentation Pocket Watch is in EXCELLENT functioning condition! Though the crystal shows some light scratches; and the dial features some chips, there is NO major damage or corrosion! Manufactured by Wempe, the outer casing features an Iron Cross with a date of 1914. Due to the age, much of the inscription at the bottom has worn off. It originally read, “In Treue Fest“, which is the motto for the Kingdom of Bavaria. This inscription can be seen from the reverse, but as it was a light stamping, it simply has worn off over time. This EXACT casing is featured on page 92 of Konrad Knirim’s book titled, “Military Timepieces”. As this is over 100 years old, the clear plastic window has yellowed over time, making it difficult to see the dial. Though it is 100% functional, the movement has not been serviced in 30 years, so I would suggest getting it cleaned for daily use. A VERY RARE piece of history, it would make for a VERY NICE addition to any collection, or display!
