WW1 French Army – 3.7cm HOTCHKISS M1916 – TRENCH ART ROUND – VERY NICE!

You are bidding on a VERY NICE example of a TRENCH ART WW1 French 3.7 cm AP Round!  This was specifically used in the Canon d’Infanterie de 37 modèle 1916 TRP (37mm mle.1916).

The Canon d’Infanterie de 37 modèle 1916 TRP (37mm mle.1916) was a French infantry support gun, first used during World War I. TRP stands for tir rapide, Puteaux (“fast-firing”, designed by the Puteaux arsenal). The tactical purpose of this gun was the destruction of machine gun nests.

It was also used on aircraft such as the Beardmore W.B.V and the Salmson-Moineau. Fighter ace René Fonck used a 37mm mle.1916 on a SPAD S.XII.

Made of brass and steel, this Veteran-Made TRENCH ART is a FANTASTIC piece of history!  Completely inert, there are some very slight wear and marks, however it remains VERY SOLID with much of the original paint and finish!  The veteran inscribed “AEF FRANCE” into the side.  The brass case features all the original markings, including “PD.Ps   55   9/17”.  A SUPERB addition to any collection or display!
