Description
The Short & Mason Aircraft Altimeter was originally introduced in early military aircraft of the British Royal Flying Corps in WW1. It crudely measured altitude from 0-10,000 ft. The lower knob rotates the face of the dial while the pointer remains fixed to set the present field elevation.
Made of brass and steel, this altimeter is in VERY NICE used condition! It retains 95% of its original paint, with only slight marks, scratches and wear due to the age. A couple of the screws are missing, however the adjustment knob still rotates perfectly! Missing the manufacture info, but it was most likely made by Short & Mason. 100% FUNCTIONAL (responds to barometric pressure), but not sure how accurate, so I am selling this as-is. I have indicated its exact location in the last photos. Would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection or display!
