You are bidding on a VERY NICE example of a WW2 USMC Type AN 6540 Leather Flight Helmet!
The AN 6540 series helmets were a comfortable, lightweight helmet made of unlined tan cotton or leather. Based on the US Army AN-H-16 Fight Helmet, it was one of the most widely used WWII naval flying helmets. This series consisted of the AN6540 / 6542 / 6543 helmets which only differed in slight details, such as style of the goggles strap, oxygen mask clips, chin straps, etc.
Made of a deep, brown leather, this flight helmet is in EXCELLENT unused condition! No rips, tears, or damage! All adjustments, straps, and snaps function 100% correctly. Features the AN 48440-1 Insulated Ear Cups. Clearly marked with the manufacture label and size. Would make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
