Description
You are bidding on a SUPER RARE 100% original WW2 Soviet VVS Aircraft Star Roundel Fabric Skin! Recovered by a German Aircraft Mechanic who served on the Eastern Front, this was cut from the Port Side Stabilizer of a Yak 1 (most likely Yak 1b) in 1943!
Made of lightweight fabric, this section is in AMAZING condition! 95% of the ORIGINAL grey camouflage paint remains, along with a VERY PROMINENT Red Soviet Star! A mentioned, this was removed from a German Aircraft Mechanic who served on the Eastern Front. He wrote the following on the side: Yak “1” 29.9.43. bei Kiew Most likely that is the date he recovered it, as opposed to the loss date. Original aircraft fabric is EXTREMELY rare as it usually burned up or rotted away over time. Measuring approx. 26″ x 34″ in size, there are some slight wear, tears, and marks, due to the age. Cleary identifiable as originating from a Yak 1b Stabilizer, I have shown the exact location in the last photo. A SUPERB piece of history, it would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection or display! Please note that the shipping cost listed is based on the fabric being ROLLED. Due to the fragility of the fabric, the winning bidder may want to have it sent flat, which would be an additional expense.
