WW II Soviet VVS Aircraft – GREEN CAMO RUDDER FABRIC & STAR – Po-2 – RARE!

You are bidding on a SUPER RARE 100% original WW2 Soviet VVS Aircraft Green Fabric Skin and Star!  Recovered by a German Aircraft Mechanic who served on the Eastern Front, this was cut from an aircraft on a captured airfield.  It originates from the Rudder of a Polikarpov Po-2/U-2 aircraft! 

This type of lacquered fabric covered the entire airframe of the aircraft, and all control surfaces.  This was fairly universal on most aircraft control surfaces during WW2.

The Polikarpov Po-2 (also U-2, for its initial uchebnyy, ‘training’, role as a flight instruction aircraft) served as an all-weather multirole Soviet biplane, nicknamed Kukuruznik. The reliable, uncomplicated design of the Po-2 design made it an ideal trainer aircraft, as well as doubling as a low-cost ground attack, aerial reconnaissance, psychological warfare and liaison aircraft during war, proving to be one of the most versatile light combat types to be built in the Soviet Union.

Made of lightweight fabric, this section is in AMAZING condition, and 95% of the ORIGINAL green camouflage paint remains and top half of the Russian Star!  Original WW2 aircraft fabric is EXTREMELY rare as it usually burned up or rotted away over time.  Measuring approx. 22″ x 40″ in size, there are some slight wear, tears, and marks, due to the age.  Dating around 1941, this was removed from the aircraft in the early stages of Operation Barbarossa, when the Germans overran numerous Soviet Airfields.  Note that I also have the bottom half of a Po-2/U-2 rudder listed in another auction (most likely from the same aircraft).  I have shown the exact location in the last photos.  A SUPERB piece of history, it would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection or display!
