Description
Made of a solid brass, aluminum, and steel, this set of binoculars is in VERY GOOD used condition! Manufactured later in the war, they retain 95% of their original paint! There are NO chips or breaks to the optics that I can see, but they are a bit hazy with some light spotting and dust particles. They are also slightly out of alignment, so one would have to get them cleaned/adjusted. Focus adjustments function perfectly, but are a bit stiff (normal for Japanese optics of this age). Some paint chips and marks as you can see in the photos…as well as some scratches. The 120mm front objectives are slightly recessed. The oculars rotate inward and outward slightly so the user can adjust for eye spacing…however they move independently (normally, they move together in one motion). The data plate is still attached with all info, and feature a production date of July 1944. They come with a fixed aiming sight mounted on the top, along with the adjustment scale still mounted on the right side (normally, these are missing). Also has another interesting mounting plate on the bottom. Sadly, the small holder for the light source/bulb has been removed, but replacements do come up. The rubber eye cups are post-war replacements. The interesting feature is that the veteran who brought these back has written his name in various places. Most likely this was done when it was captured in 1945. Some small screws are missing. Due to the large weight (60 lbs. approx.) and size, I have had to estimate the shipping costs. I will provide a more accurate cost to the winning bidder (dependent on shipping location). It would make a SUPERB addition to any collection or display! |
