|You are bidding on a SUPERB set of WW2 Imperial Japanese Navy 15 x 4 Degree (15×80) Battleship Binoculars! This “Big Eye” style was specifically used on late-war battleships, destroyers, cruisers and other surface vessels! These were brought back by a US veteran who served in the Pacific, and come complete in the original box!
Made of a solid brass, aluminum, and steel by Toko (?) this set of binoculars is in VERY GOOD used condition! Manufactured later in the war, they retain 95% of their original paint! The optics are still in PERFECT alignment…however the focus adjustments are VERY stiff, and as such, was unable to focus to take photos. Right side eye piece has a gradient scale/rangefinder. There is some slight spotting and dust particles! The center features a prominent data plate indicating all manufacture information, as well as a Navy Anchor stamp. Some paint chips and marks as you can see in the photos…as well as some scratches and a 1″ dent on the top (does not affect the function. The 80mm front objectives are slightly recessed…and it still retains the original tripod mount! The AMAZING feature is that the original rubber eye shields are still soft flexible, with NO hardening! This is NOT common, as Japanese rubber turns to a hard plastic, and deforms over time.
Comes complete in the original wood crate…but sadly, some of the internal compartments are broken/missing. The BONUS is that still retains the original tools, cheesecloth…and TWO sets of filters! Missing the main data plate, and the wood is cracked in area. Due to the large weight and size, I have had to estimate the shipping costs. I will provide a more accurate cost to the winning bidder (dependent on shipping location). It would make a SUPERB addition to any collection or display!

——————- ABOUT ME —————–
Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft (Fw190, Me262, etc.), as well as USAF and Japanese items. Occasionally I do offer many non-vintage items such as prints and art relating to the time period. As a private collector myself, I am constantly on the lookout for historical memorabilia, authentic photographs, artwork or anything unique relating to military aircraft.
