Description
You are bidding on an EXTREMELY RARE example of a late-war WW2 Imperial Japanese Navy Type 3 Landing Gear Warning Horn! Located in the cockpit of a few aircraft, this specific example was removed from an A6M “Zero” Fighter Aircraft in Okinawa by a US Serviceman. Located on the right side console of the cockpit, next to the gear and fap control arms, this warning horn blows if pilot does not return the gear selector to neutral position after wheels have been retracted and locked. A switchbox next to it indicates a green light when the wheels are down and locked; a yellow light indicates they’re neither up nor down.
Made of aluminum and steel, this is a SUPERB example! Retains approx. 90% of it’s original finish, with only slight marks and wear, due to the age. The original data plate remains, and clearly indicates, “ALARM” at the top. Appears to be complete, however, I have not tested it electrically. In 25 years of collecting, this is only the SECOND one I have ever seen! I have shown its location in the last photos. Would make a SUPERB addition to any collection or display! Please email me for any additional photos or information. |
