Description

You are bidding on a FANTASTIC example of a WW2 Imperial Japanese Army Type 97 Turn & Bank Indicator, as used in many of the Japanese Front Line Fighters and bombers!  This was used in the  such as the Ki-27 Nate, Ki-36 “Ida”, Ki-9 “Spruce”, Ki-55 “Ida”, Ki-54 “Hickory”, and others!

This instrument measured the current Turn and of the aircraft by the use of air pressure.  It was located on the main instrument panel of the Nakajima Ki-27, Tachikawa Ki-36, Tachikawa Ki-9, Tachikawa Ki-54.

Made of brass and aluminum, this indicator is of early war manufacture.  It still retains 95% of it’s original finish, and features an aluminum data plate, clearly indicating the model, manufacture, and production number.  Ae the aluminum one.  It has a manufacture date of January 1941 and the dial still glows when UV light is applied!  As it was removed from a Japanese aircraft, it features some wear and marks.  The front has a flux adjustment lever, however it is currently very stiff, and will need to be oiled/cleaned, in order for it to move freely.  I have indicated it’s location in the last photo.

Like most Japanese instruments, this item is VERY rare and would be a SUPERB addition to any Japanese Instrument Collection!

As a private collector myself, I am constantly on the lookout for historical memorabilia, authentic photographs, artwork or anything unique relating to military aircraft.
