Description
The M31 canteen was based on the M1893 and M1907 canteen which were used throughout WW1. These were originally manufactured in aluminum, but as aluminum was required for use in other equipment (aircraft, for example), they were then re-designed to be manufactured in steel. For tropical climates, the canteen was made of pressed wood with canvas straps.
Made of aluminum, with an orange rubber gasket, this cap is in EXCELLENT condition for it’s age. Some marks and wear throughout, due to the age, but nothing that detracts. Would make a SUPERB addition to any collection or display!
