Description
During the Spanish Civil War, the Condor legion were issued with this mask. After the war, they were used by Spain, until the adoption of the N24.
Made of a rubberized canvas, this M30 pattern gas mask is in EXCELLENT condition, and all the fabric covered straps and buckles are intact! The metal alloy eye socket frames and snout retain 98% original paint, and the celluloid eye-socket lenses are present and CRYSTAL CLEAR! The mask is still flexible, only showing light age, and all components are intact! Straps are complete (including the rear head pad), and are to be NOS! As it still retains the original internal protective paper from the manufacture, I did not take photos of the interior.
The mask comes complete with a stamped, multi-piece late-war filter marked, “CMP”. This denotes that this was most likely left-over from the Spanish Civil War. Only the filter itself appears to be Spanish in origin (the remainder is all original WW2 German). It retains 95% of its original paint, with only some slight wear and marks.
The canister is EXCELLENT, retaining with 90% of its original paint, and is approx. 10” tall with snap closure. Some wear, corrosion and marks due to the age. Lid has a square box to carry the replacement lenses. The lenses are still there, the paper has suffered from moisture damage. Dated 1935, it comes complete with the original straps, which are still stored inside the canister itself!
Would make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
