Description
You are bidding on an EXTREMELY RARE example of an early-war WW2 German / Swedish 3.7cm PaK36 Anti-Tank Gunsight!
The Pak 36 (Panzerabwehrkanone 36) is a 3.7 cm / 37mm caliber German anti-tank gun used during the Second World War. It was the main anti-tank weapon of Wehrmacht Panzerjäger units until 1942. Developed by Rheinmetall in 1933, it was first issued to the German Army in 1936, with 9,120 being available by the beginning of the war in September 1939 and a further 5,339 produced during the war. As the predominant anti-tank gun design in the world during the late 1930s, demand was high for the Pak 36, with another 6,000 examples produced for export and the design being copied by the Soviet Union as the 45 mm anti-tank gun M1932 (19-K) and by other nations such as Japan.
During the war, Sweden purchased 305 guns, used as the 37 mm pvk.m34 (L45), m/39-40 (L50), m/39-43 (L45, 37mmx257R) and m/40-43 (L50, 37mmx257R)
Made of aluminum and steel, this Anti-Tank Gunsight is in SUPERB used condition! AS it came to me in the German PaK36 Optical Storage box that I have in another listing, it most likely originates from one of the original 305 cannons that were purchased from Germany during the war! Retaining approx. 98% of it’s original finish, the optics are near PERFECT! The data plate clearly indicates the type of cannon it was used with:
37mm L/45 pvk.m 34 ST
37mm L/50 ffk m. 1937
There is a Swedish Crown inspection stamp on the top. Pretty much identical to the German version scope, would make a SUPERB addition to any collection or display!
