Made of paper, this hand-written letter is in EXCELLENT condition! Written on September 15, 1947, it was sent to Major Fred Bieri of the International Red Cross, one month before his repatriation. Written in German, it come with a translation of the letter. In part:
“…I was prepared for the denial of the application, so I took it as it is. I won’t deny the fact that it was hard to accept at first. I know you will understand this. There is now nothing else to do but wait and see what can be done later at home to reunite my family from which I have been separated since 1941….thank you also on behalf of my wife for your open hearted efforts in my case. My wife is especially grateful for the contact with the International Red Cross…I wish you continued good luck and success in your blessed work…”
Some marks, wear, and creases due to the age on the reverse, but nothing that detracts. 100% original, it would look EXCELLENT framed! A PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
