Description
An aileron is a hinged flight control surface attached to the trailing edge of each wing of the Me109. They were used in pairs to control the aircraft in roll (or movement around the aircraft’s longitudinal axis), which normally results in a change in flight path due to the tilting of the lift vector. Movement around this axis is called ‘rolling’ or ‘banking’. In the present day, ailerons have become highly refined in their designs and performance with multiple types created to suit the various fixed wing aircraft in existence.
Made of aluminum and steel, this SUPERB Ailerons Hinge remains in EXCELLENT NOS condition! It originates from old storage, found at the end of the war. Though there are some slight marks and wear, there is NO corrosion, damage, or bends! The part number is cast into the side, indicating, 8-109.360-0201. I have shown its location in the last photos. A FANTASTIC addition to any airworthy restoration project!
