WW II German Luftwaffen-Koffer K32 GWB – BARRACKS RADIO w/ BATTERY – RARE!

Out of stock

You are bidding on a VERY NICE used example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe Siemens K32 GWB Barracks Radio!

Early in the war, it was realized that spoken word was more influential than the written.AS such, Germany’s national radio broadcasting system was quickly taken over by the Ministry for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda. A special department, the Chamber of Radio, was created, and it pushed manufacturers into producing an inexpensive radio that the average person could afford. This way the Ministry could reach more people. The Wehrmacht (Armed Forces) also recognized the influence of the radio, so commercial radios were provided for some units..

The Siemens model K32 GWB barracks radio, has both long and short wave capabilities, and was manufactured specifically for the Luftwaffe in 1941.

Made of wood, bakelite, and steel, this K32 GWB Barracks Radio is in VERY NICE used condition!  Manufactured by Siemens, it measures approx. 18″ x 12″ x 7″ in size, and retains 95% of the original Luftwaffe RLM66 Grey paint!  Has some chips to the veneer as well as some marks and wear, due to the age.  Sadly, the latch that secured the 2 doors closed is missing…so the doors remain open via the spring.  I am sure someone can fashion a new catch, if they wish.  It appears to be 100% COMPLETE internally with all valves/tubes; the original power cord; the original BATTERY, the RARE extension cord (these are always missing); and the original instructions!  The instructions are missing part of the first page, but all information that is there is legible.  Brought back by a US veteran, there is some English writing on one of the schematic diagrams.  No internal damage, that I can see and complete internally…but I am not sure if it is functional.   A SUPERB item for any collection or display!

——————- ABOUT ME —————–

Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft (Fw190, Me262, etc.), as well as USAF and Japanese items. Occasionally I do offer many non-vintage items such as prints and art relating to the time period. As a private collector myself, I am constantly on the lookout for historical memorabilia, authentic photographs, artwork or anything unique relating to military aircraft.
